Two years ago, two Medieval Battlefield Tour Guides sat in a pub in Leicester with the full intention of visiting the King Richard III Visitor Centre.

They never made it.

Instead, they would embark on a pub crawl around Leicester, searching for any place that had a connection to the story of Richard III and the city’s Medieval History. On that journey, shots were drunk, proclamations of undying love and friendship were declared, strangers were befriended- an idea sparked into life.

What if these two guides shared this pub crawl with everyone else? Obsessed with the Medieval Era, theatre, Shakespeare, storytelling, and making history personal again, and not boring, Katy and Elizabeth spent the next 2 years talking and planning.

Coming to the realisation that life is too short, fortune favours the bold, and that too much prosecco was being wasted over talking about it, we decided to raise our banners and start Truth & Tale Tours.

We wanted to create an experience that was fun, friendlyand real. And what could make history better than to learn it with a drink in hand and support our incredible British pubs?
